As a leader, a big part of your role is to develop those around you. Develop their leadership, increase their productivity and accelerate how they contribute to your organization. As you partner with the team you support, do you truly know how effective your partnership really is?
The goal is to enhance the skills of those around you. The growth and success of any business is dependent on the contribution of those in the organization. It is great to meet with others, brainstorm, motivate them so they feel valued, part of the bigger picture and excited about what they do. It is also important that you are able to identify the ROI that you desire to achieve.
Motivation serves as a temporary jolt to the system. Something to kick start but it doesn't provide a long term effect that reciprocates a consistent ROI.
Our job as leaders is to continue feeding our team (a team of 1 or a team of 200) and leaving them with a call to action that provides a ROI. This ROI should be measurable. We're not just talking numbers. The ROI can be tracked in so many ways....growth in communication, stronger partnerships, stronger sense of community, financial to the bottom line, customer retention, benchmarks achieved, etc.
Leadership is NOT a one-stop shop. Leadership-inspiring others to take action-is a never ending attitude, way of thinking and commitment to show people how to take action and get results.
As you support those around you don't forget the ROI. Whats the ROI of your conversation? What's the ROI of your coaching? What's the ROI of your training? How do you contribute to develop for a greater ROI every time?
We've all heard the phrase "time is money". Our time is money and everything we do, how we connect, lead and coach should have a return on our investment. Identify what that is for you, your team and your organization. When you work with the end in mind, the goal is much easier to acheive and the direction you should take is easy to identify.
